We’re looking for a Junior Buyer to join our team and play a hands-on role in supporting sourcing activity, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement across the business. The Role As a Junior Buyer, you’ll support the Senior Buyer and Head of Procurement in delivering a compliant, value-driven procurement service across Calor and the wider SHV Energy group. You’ll take ownership of a defined tactical spend portfolio (c. £15m), supporting sourcing activity across operational categories such as MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), while building strong relationships with colleagues across sites and functions. This role is well suited to someone early in their procurement journey or looking to transition from a related operational, planning, or commercial role. What You’ll Be Doing Procurement & Sourcing Support procurement strategies focused on value, cost efficiency, service continuity, quality, and risk. Run tactical sourcing activity and support supplier negotiations. Assist with contract negotiations and agreement execution, working with Legal where needed. Support supplier performance management and continuous improvement activity. Working with Colleagues Across Calor Partner closely with teams such as Material Planning and Production to align procurement with operational needs. Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across sites and functions. Proactively communicate updates on delivery dates, changes, and potential risks. Transactional & Systems Activity Create and manage purchase orders, including follow-up on non-delivered orders. Maintain supplier, pricing, and catalogue data. Support supplier onboarding and ensure data accuracy across ERP and sourcing systems. Performance & Development Track KPIs, monitor order status, and support reporting. Contribute to team savings targets and procurement value initiatives. Support market monitoring, supply risk awareness, and pricing trend analysis. Get involved in wider projects to support team and business objectives. What We’re Looking For Essential Degree-educated, CIPS qualified, or equivalent experience (including 1 year in a procurement or closely related role). Understanding of procurement processes and tactical sourcing activity. Experience using ERP or procurement systems, including purchase order creation. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Confident communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels. Desirable Experience with SAP and/or Ariba. Exposure to sourcing platforms such as Jaggaer. Experience tracking KPIs or managing order follow-up. What Success Looks Like Confidently managing a defined tactical procurement portfolio.
