Role Overview
We are now looking to recruit a Senior Estimator. This role will be mainly based at our head office in Kidlington, with some travel to construction sites in the Oxfordshire area.
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for multiple schemes, working closely with our Design, Commercial, and Operations teams. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Allocating tenders to the estimating team and managing workload
2. Sourcing operating and commercial input where required
3. Ensuring all tender processes are followed and completed by the team
4. Coordinating trainee learning and opportunities
5. Managing supply chain and reviewing it
6. Ensuring delivery of all tenders by deadlines
7. Evaluating tender packages and deciding whether to tender
8. Marking up subcontract and supplier packages for tender enquiries
9. Involving contracts and design managers when required, formulating programmes, method statements, and design information
10. Visiting sites to establish access and restrictions
11. Following up and establishing tender results
12. Handing over successful tenders to the construction and commercial teams
13. Attending pre-contract meetings and liaising with buying and commercial teams during projects
14. Identifying and qualifying design responsibilities and risks
15. Liaising with the Business Development team for tender procurement
16. Reviewing estimating procedures and maintaining workbooks and overheads costings
What You’ll Need
* Leadership and planning skills
* A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
* Significant construction experience
* Strong cost planning abilities across various sectors
* Proficiency in relevant technology such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Conquest or similar
* Understanding of forms of contract
* Proficiency in SMM7 / NRM2
* High attention to detail
* Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
* Strong presentation and negotiating skills
