Location: Cardiff | CatSci Ltd
At CatSci, we transform chemistry into real-world impact. From early discovery through to full-scale manufacturing and life-cycle management, we partner with innovators in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to develop and manufacture life-changing medicines.
We're looking for a proactive, hands-on Facilities Technician to help keep our laboratories, infrastructure and equipment running safely, efficiently and compliantly.
If you enjoy solving practical problems, working in a technical environment and making a visible impact every day, this could be the role for you.
What you'll be doing
As part of our Facilities and Supply Chain team, you'll play a key role in ensuring our laboratories operate smoothly and safely. No two days will look exactly the same, but your work will include:
* Conducting HSE and compliance checks
* Managing laboratory gases: monitoring levels, moving/changing cylinders
* Supervising and coordinating external contractors
* PAT testing and asset tracking
* Basic fault finding, DIY and preventative maintenance tasks
* Supporting relocation and installation of lab equipment
* Assisting with hazardous waste handling
* Assisting with goods in and site deliveries
You'll be at the heart of keeping our labs safe, compliant and operational - enabling our science teams to focus on delivering exceptional work.
About you
You're practical, organised and solution-focused, with a strong commitment to safety and compliance. You enjoy hands-on technical work and take pride in maintaining high standards.
We're particularly interested in people with:
* Experience in laboratory facilities, maintenance, engineering support or a similar technical environment
* An understanding of health & safety and compliance in laboratory or industrial settings
* A hands-on approach and strong problem-solving skills
* The ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to internal customer needs
* Willingness to support a mix of technical, operational and administrative tasks
* GCSE (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above in Maths and English
It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:
* A relevant technical or engineering qualification
* PAT testing certification
* Knowledge or qualifications in LEV compliance testing
* Experience with laboratory gas infrastructure
If you don't meet every single requirement but feel you could thrive in this role, we'd still love to hear from you.
Why join CatSci?
At CatSci, you'll be part of a collaborative and ambitious team where your contribution genuinely matters. We're proud of our culture, our growth journey and the impact we make together.
What we offer:
* Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
* 25 days annual leave (increasing with service)
* Annual bonus
* Comprehensive company benefits
* Flexible working arrangements (subject to agreement)
* A supportive, friendly team environment
