Job Overview
The buyer will source the purchase of raw materials from a variety of global suppliers ensuring the supply chain needs of the company are met in a timely and cost-effective manner, in the aim to improve company margin to increase profit value. They will liaise with Sales to meet customer expectations and the warehouse for inventory control.
Core Competencies
* Sourcing reliable accredited suppliers, nationally and internationally and nurturing these relationships
* Quote customer orders to ensure sales offer jobs at competitive prices in a timely manor
* Preparation of achieving optimum delivery dates for the ingredients purchased
Responsibilities
Support Sales with sourcing new materials, if needed, to meet customer expectations
Placing orders and negotiating with sources, to achieve excellence in product quality, deliver and cost, ensuring maximum company target is met
Support operations with any challenges that arise and offer solutions
Manage lead times to ensure customer delivery requirement can be met, resourcing and expediting where needed
Communicates with the warehouse in order to maintain clarity on current stock levels and production plans
Review supply base annually
Re-cost customer jobs to ensure accurate quotes are given in the first instance
Manage critical path dates
The Ideal Candidate
Strong experience in a similar position within supply chain or purchasing
Strong IT skills, including office 365 software
Proactive, attention to details and good communication skills
Good business acumen
