Job Description
Job Location: Lab based (Buxton)
As a Product Safety Engineer you'll conduct comprehensive electrical safety assessments for new and existing products in accordance with the quality system and relevant industry standards, regulations and company policies.
1. Ensure completion of all assigned work and relevant documentation test reports and certificates in accordance with required procedures and standards to maintain accreditation.
2. Assist in internal / external calibrations on test equipment to ensure compliance with the quality system.
3. Maintain good housekeeping within the laboratory, storerooms and online to minimize accidents and hazards; and to find files, test equipment and samples when needed, and usable as required
4. Stay abreast of industry-specific electrical safety standards and regulations, and ensure that products adhere to the latest requirements.
5. Analyse and interpret test data, providing recommendations for design improvements to enhance electrical safety.
6. Investigate electrical safety incidents, identifying root causes and developing strategies to prevent recurrence.
7. Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on electrical safety best practices and standards.
8. Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure that products meet all necessary electrical safety certifications.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you’ll need proven experience as an Electrical Safety Engineer or have experience in a similar role within a relevant industry, with recent experience in the use of test and measuring equipment ( multimeters, oscilloscope).
In addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;
9. In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, regulations, and testing methodologies.
10. Experience with electrical safety analysis tools and software.
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
13. Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of electrical safety.
14. Professional certifications related to electrical safety are a plus.
The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential;
15. Working knowledge of product safety standards EN 60335, EN 60598, EN 61558, EN 60745, EN 62368, EN 61010, EN 60601, etc.
16. Experience in quality management or quality assurance.
17. Work experience in the TIC industry.
18. Full Driving License for use in the UK
