Apprentice Fitter / Technician
As an Apprentice Fitter / Technician you will join a four‑year internal apprenticeship training programme that combines hands‑on training in fitting, machining, testing, quality inspection/assurance, and maintenance programs with an SVQ Level 3 qualification. You will learn to work from engineering drawings and technical data to strip, inspect, report, and rebuild a variety of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps used primarily in the power and energy industry. Throughout the programme you will develop a strong health and safety awareness and help support the company’s zero‑harm culture.
Responsibilities
* Work through a 4‑year internal apprenticeship training programme, including fitting, machining, testing, quality inspection/assurance, and maintenance.
* Attend day‑release college and complete all assignments and examinations to obtain relevant SVQ qualifications.
* Complete an SVQ Level 3 qualification in conjunction with the education provider.
* Complete and present a variety of engineering projects related to training during the apprenticeship.

* Strong achievements in Maths, English, and Science.
* Willingness to learn and to take on new and challenging responsibilities within the business.
* Commitment to completing a four‑year apprenticeship scheme.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
* Effective personal organisation and time‑management skills.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Capacity to multitask and work in a deadline‑driven environment.
* Practical, tidy and self‑motivated approach to tasks.

Physical Demands
* Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (close vision required for computer work).
* Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
* Daily use of hands, fingers, and arms to reach and operate a computer and telephone.
* Occasional lifting or moving light to moderate objects.
* Occasional travel, usually by air or road, which may require extended periods of sitting.
Working Conditions
* Ability to work with moderate office noise, including computers, phones, and printers.
* Ability to work in an open or individual office/work area.
* Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
* Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
