Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million with regional and national services.
Position Details
This is a full-time, permanent role of 37 hours per week, with a Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm) shift pattern.
About the Pharmacy Distribution Centre (PDC)
The PDC includes three main areas: Unit F Warehouse, Unit E Purchasing & Homecare, and Unit C Vaccine Holding Centre. It is responsible for purchasing and supplying medicines and vaccines across NHS GG&C and NHS Highland.
The centre features 10 automated robots in the warehouse to ensure accurate and efficient distribution of medicinal products, meeting clinical needs within specified timescales.
Role Responsibilities
* Be an authorized signatory for medicine purchases.
* Coordinate and prioritize daily workload, monitor outstanding orders, and prevent delays.
* Contribute to staff training and development, including TURAS.
* Participate in stock management processes and review stock discrepancies.
* Populate staffing rosters to ensure coverage of purchasing activities.
* Assist in sourcing alternatives and communicating with relevant staff groups.
* Contribute to implementing national contracts and updating product files.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and stock control systems.
* Experience in healthcare/pharmacy or customer-facing roles.
* Knowledge of policies, procedures, and legislation related to GDP and WDA(H) license is desirable.
* Effective communication, persuasion, and people management skills.
* Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload independently.
Training and Additional Information
Full training will be provided for this role. Candidates should demonstrate initiative and the ability to meet service demands.
