RWE’s offshore wind business in the UK is growing rapidly with new developments and opportunities arising on a frequent basis. The Finance Manager role is highly engaging and provides a breadth of exposure to the fast-growing offshore wind farm business in the UK.
About the role:
1. Planning & Organising Assist in delivery of reporting to RWE group and other stakeholdersManage the preparation of the management accountsManage the preparation of annual statutory accounts (together with audit-standard working papers)Provide assistance with audit scheduling and resolution of audit queries
2. Communication and Liaising First point of contact for finance matters relates to specific wind farm projectsWork closely with auditors, tax advisors, accounting advisors, and internal RWE departments including group accounting, controlling, project teams, commercial team and the shared service centreInquisitive and challenging – understanding in detail the cost and income elements and having the ability to identify potential issues and challenge assumptions where appropriate
3. Customer Focus / AwarenessFocus on supporting the business to operate and growEnsuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and group policiesGeneral business knowledge and awareness of the wider renewable energy industry
4. RelationshipsAttend management meetings, including presentation and discussion of financial reportsLiaising with the RWE shared service centre to resolve issues and improve processesRegular formal and informal meetings with project controllers to discuss accruals and any advice on accounting impacts of project actionsStatutory accounts, audit and tax - liaise with tax advisors, auditors and company secretary
Job requirements and experience:
5. Qualified accountant with recognised accounting body - ACA, ACCA, CIMA and accounting experience in practice or industry essential
6. Relationship management (internal / external parties)
7. Organisation – self-motivated to develop own plan and good prioritisation of requirements
8. Challenging – possessing the confidence to challenge assumptions and theories rather than simply accepting
9. Communication – the role holder is required to be able to discuss financial issues with both non-finance and finance experts, whilst being able to grasp non-financial issues (e.g. legal and basic technical subject matter)
10. Presentation - able to present information in a clear and concise manner, identifying the key information for the recipients
11. Microsoft Excel - intermediate level
12. Application and understanding of IFRS
13. Management accounting
14. Statutory accounts preparation or auditing
Advantageous but not essential:
15. SAP or equivalent ERP system capabilities
16. CCH accounts preparation software
17. Firm business knowledge and awareness of the wider energy industry
We have 2 opportunities, one to start ASAP for 9 months and the other to ideally start November 2025 until February 2027, if you have a preference please outline this in your cover letter
