The SPA Project Manager is the strategic and operational leader responsible for delivering SPA projects from initiation through closeout. Acting as the primary driver of project execution, the Project Manager ensures scope, schedule, cost, quality, commercial compliance, and stakeholder engagement are delivered in line with contractual obligations and FLS standards.
This position demands a very hands-on approach to project management, where the Project Manager is directly involved in planning, execution, resolving issues, and aligning stakeholders, instead of just coordinating tasks remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
1. Develop project charters, execution strategies, and project management plans.
2. Define, validate, and control scope, schedule, budget, and resources throughout the project lifecycle.
3. Lead cross‑functional teams spanning Engineering, Procurement, Sales, Logistics, Finance, Quality, and Services.
4. Escalate design, cost, and schedule impacts to the Operations Team as required.
Financial & Commercial Management
5. Own project financial performance, including cost control, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and margin protection.
6. Approve commercial transactions in ERP systems (Epicor).
7. Support contract negotiations with customers and suppliers.
8. Ensure team members (e.g., Project Engineers, Controllers) have accurate planned-vs-actual data to support reporting.
Risk, Change & Claims Management
9. Identify, analyse, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
10. Lead integrated change control and oversee variation management.
11. Manage contract amendments, scope changes, and claims.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
12. Ensure all deliverables meet internal QA/QC requirements and customer standards.
13. Monitor and enforce HSE expectations across project activities.
14. Use systems such as Intelex for NCR management and root cause analysis.
Stakeholder, Customer & Supplier Engagement
15. Act as the contractor’s representative to clients and key partners.
16. Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder communication.
17. Communicate project execution strategy during sales and proposal support phases.
18. Lead supplier and customer kick‑off meetings and regular progress reviews.
Project Reporting & Governance
19. Lead project progress meetings and customer reporting cycles.
20. Maintain schedule and budget updates in line with SPA project governance frameworks.
21. Support continuous improvement by feeding lessons learned into SPA frameworks and role charters.

Required Skills & Experience
26. Proven experience managing EPC or complex technical engineering projects (mining or industrial preferred).
27. Strong commercial and contractual understanding.
28. Proficiency in project management systems (Epicor, MS Project, scheduling tools).
29. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across global locations.
30. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
31. Ability to drive accountability and maintain control over schedule, cost, and scope.
Desirable Attributes
32. SPA systems familiarity (Sampling, Preparation, Analysis workflows).
33. Experience in risk management, cost forecasting, or project controls.
34. Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the SPA portfolio.
