Facilities Engineer — Hemel Hempstead | £45,000 - £50,000 per annum | Monday - Friday, 7am-4pm
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a hands-on and proactive Facilities Engineer to join a large, growing operation based in Hemel Hempstead. This newly developed site has recently benefited from significant investment and includes a mix of chilled, frozen, and ambient environments with semi-automated systems.
This position offers an exciting chance to take ownership of a key facility, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all site equipment and services.
The Role
* Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and supporting all facility-related breakdowns.
* Ensuring all site infrastructure and equipment is kept in safe working order, including:
* Roller doors, bay doors, and dock levellers
* Sprinkler and fire systems
* Cooling and waste compactor systems
* Welfare facilities and vending machines
* MHE bolts and general site equipment
* Assisting with contractor management and permit-to-work systems.
* Working collaboratively with site stakeholders to ensure maintenance priorities align with operational needs.
* Contributing to the development of a new Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for scheduling, asset management, and KPI tracking.
About You
We're looking for an adaptable and self-sufficient engineer who takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient site. You should be comfortable managing your own workload and confident in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Essential:
* Level 3 Electrical qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience in industrial or facilities maintenance
* Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including bearings, belts, chains, motors, and hydraulics
* Basic understanding of PLCs for fault finding
* Comfortable working independently as the sole engineer initially
Desirable:
* Experience working with CO₂ or refrigeration systems
* Knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools
