The organization works in collaboration with local advice charities as part of Advice in Southampton to ensure everyone has access to the right advice. Citizens Advice Southampton is independent, impartial, and advocates for clients to improve their situations.
Role Description
This is a volunteer role for a Treasurer at Citizens Advice Southampton. The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing the organization's finances, budgets, financial records, and financial reporting. The role requires attendance at Board and Finance Sub-Committee meetings 6 - 8 times per year. The Charity has a Finance Manager responsible for day to day activities and a part-time accountant who prepares monthly reports, annual accounts and budget preparation.
We offer the opportunity for experience at Board level the role of a Finance Director in a small but dynamic charity providing much needed advice to the citizens of Southampton. You will as a director of Citzens Advice Southampton also be engaged in policy decisions and oversight of our operations.
Qualifications
* Financial management, budgeting, and accounting skills
* Experience in financial reporting and analysis
* Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to financial operations
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Previous experience in a similar role or in the charity sector is a plus
* Professional qualification in accounting or finance is desirable
