This role’s prime remit is to develop and manage a sustainable (and growing) financial platform from which the Trust can meet its obligations and continue to deliver its aspirations as a UK-based conservation charity to make a lasting impact on the environment.
The John Muir Trust is a conservation charity dedicated to the experience, protection and repair of wild places. This role’s operational remit is to ensure that the wider organisation is supported through the provision of efficient finance and business support services.
With around £4m income and 60 employees, The John Muir Trust stewards wild land on the west coast of Scotland including Ben Nevis, areas of Skye, Knoydart and Sutherland, as well as East Schiehallion (Perthshire), Glenlude (Scottish Borders), and Thirlmere (Lake District).
As the organisation embarks on a transformation journey, an experienced and strategic finance & business leader will play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence, supporting the organisation's evolution and partnering with the Chief Executive.
The role:
• Sits on the Leadership Team, accountable directly to the Chief Executive.
• Is line manager of four distinct teams.
• Is prime budget-holder for Finance & Governance and Corporate Services expenditure with span of financial control over the wider organisation.
