About The Role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Section Engineer to support the Design Engineering team in delivering projects related to our Lower Thames Crossing project. Balfour Beatty Highways maintains, manages and operates major highway networks across the UK and supports local authorities in creating communities where people want to live, work and play. We provide high‑quality asset strategy, management and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers, delivering schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
* Carry out complex setting out
* Coach subordinates in the use of setting out techniques
* Actively use the Specification as a reference document
* Identify, raise and act on non‑conformance reports
* Identify and raise technical queries with possible solutions
* Produce method statements and risk assessments
* Produce a weekly programme and measure progress against KPI’s
Qualifications
* Able to carry out complex setting out
* Understand and have experience of producing ACPs
* Understanding of construction tolerances
* Awareness of Specification and other contract documents
* Understand Permit System and actively raise permits to work
* Good understanding of key contract documentation
* Demonstrable prior experience in highways is required
