Role: Lead Community Sports Coach

Location: Yeovil & surrounding Somerset/Dorset areas (schools, community venues and stadium facilities)
Contract: 30 hours per week
Salary: £19,000 – £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Role Purpose
The Lead Community Sports Coach will play a key delivery and coordination role within the Trust's community programme. The post holder will deliver high-quality sport and physical activity sessions across schools, community settings and football development pathways while supporting the planning, organisation and mentoring of other coaching staff.
This role combines delivery, leadership and programme coordination, helping ensure sessions are safe, engaging, inclusive and aligned with the Trust's strategic objectives and community impact goals.

Key Responsibilities
1. Coaching Delivery
Deliver engaging and inclusive sessions across Trust programmes, including:
• Primary & secondary school PE delivery
• Extra-curricular clubs and wraparound provision
• Holiday courses and camps
• Grassroots and player development centres
• Female football and inclusion programmes
• Health, wellbeing and participation initiatives
• Talent ID sessions and football pathway activity
Sessions must meet safeguarding, health & safety and quality assurance standards.

2. Programme Leadership & Coordination
Act as a senior coach supporting the delivery team:
• Assist with weekly coaching schedules and logistics
• Lead sessions and oversee session quality standards
• Provide mentoring and informal support to junior coaches
• Support staff inductions and session observations
• Assist in maintaining programme resources and equipment
• Help ensure consistent delivery across multiple venues

3. School & Community Engagement
Support strong relationships with partner schools and community organisations:
• Represent the Trust professionally in schools and community venues
• Liaise with teachers, parents and partners where appropriate
• Support the growth and retention of school and community programmes
• Promote participation pathways into Trust and club programmes

4. Safeguarding & Welfare
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns appropriately
• Ensure risk assessments and safety procedures are followed
• Act as a positive role model for participants

5. Monitoring & Reporting
Support impact measurement and programme evaluation:
• Maintain accurate registers and session records
• Assist with collecting participant feedback and case studies
• Support reporting requirements for partners and funders

• Promote the values and reputation of Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust
• Attend staff meetings, CPD and training opportunities
• Undertake occasional evening and weekend work
• Support matchday and community events when required

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
• Minimum FA Level 2 Coaching Football (UEFA C preferred or willingness to work towards)
• Valid FA Emergency First Aid qualification
• FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)

• Experience working with children and young people (ages 5–16)
• Experience planning and delivering structured coaching sessions
• Experience working as part of a coaching team
