Ernulf Academy is building a team of exceptional and highly skilled teachers, committed to driving excellence and continuous improvement across our school. As a Teacher of English you will play a vital role in securing high‑quality teaching, learning and outcomes within the English department.
You will be a highly effective and reflective classroom practitioner, fostering a scholarly culture within English that is rooted in high expectations, intellectual curiosity and consistently strong classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality English lessons that promote strong progress, attainment and enjoyment of learning for all scholars.
* Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge scholars of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions.
* Create a safe, stimulating and well‑managed classroom environment rooted in mutual respect and positive behaviour.
* Assess, track and monitor scholars’ progress effectively, using assessment information to inform planning and adapt teaching where required.
* Plan and deliver a well‑sequenced English curriculum that ensures full national curriculum entitlement for all scholars.
* Differentiate teaching to build on scholars’ prior knowledge, strengths and emerging needs, including those absent or learning in alternative settings.
* Encourage scholars to take responsibility for their learning, study habits and personal development.
* Uphold and model high standards of professional conduct, attitudes and values in line with Ernulf Academy and Astrea Academy Trust expectations.
Accountable for
* Progress and outcomes for all scholars in English, ensuring sustained progress and strong attainment through high‑quality teaching and effective use of assessment.
* Planning and delivery of a high‑quality English curriculum, aligned with national curriculum expectations and responsive to scholars’ starting points and needs.
* High standards of classroom practice and behaviour, creating a safe, purposeful and scholarly learning environment rooted in high expectations.
* Professional conduct and contribution to the wider academy, including collaboration with colleagues, reflective practice and commitment to ongoing professional development.
