We are recruiting a Senior Finance Adviser to join our Finance function that is at the heart of high-quality public service delivery to the people of Hampshire and beyond, supporting:
* directorates with management accounting requirements
* technical accounting and the accounts and audit process
* financial systems used across the shared services partnership
The Role:
We are one of the largest local authorities in the country with a net revenue budget of £3.1bn, a capital programme of £2.0bn and a Pension Fund of £10.2bn.

What you’ll do:
* You’ll be developing your own skills and career while having a positive impact on society and the people of Hampshire by working in the public sector
* You’ll be leading a small team within our professional Finance function, providing effective and efficient financial services to the County Council and its partners
* You’ll be preparing accurate and timely financial information and reports to enable sound financial decision making and delivering value for money
* You’ll be providing advice and guidance to customers and colleagues, using strong communication skills alongside your financial expertise
What we’re looking for:
A qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (or accepted relevant equivalent qualification) with relevant post-qualification experience or a fully qualified accountant.
You’ll have the ability to:
* lead and deliver key accounting functions (including budget preparation and year-end accounts)
* lead and motivate a team to deliver a high-quality service
* prioritise a demanding workload
* have excellent communication skills
* analyse financial information and data quickly and accurately
Strong IT skills, an understanding of the public sector and experience with financial systems would be an advantage.

You will be provided with a laptop and equipment to support hybrid working. Although you’ll have the option to work remotely, we will fully support you in getting to know our organisation, your role, and your team
* Flexible working – we have opportunities for part-time and flexible working arrangements. We will consider reduced or compressed hours
* Annual leave – you will receive 25 days per annum (pro rata) rising to 28 days (pro rata) after 5 years’ service
