Overview
The Headteacher and SENCO of a reputable Primary School located in Fulwood, Preston are seeking to appoint a Specialist Support Assistant to work across their KS1 department from October 2025. The role is to support a number of children with behavioural and emotional difficulties which have arisen following their return to full-time education. You will be working alongside the pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis with the aim of supporting them in settling back into school and the classroom environment. You will work with the Class Teacher, school SENCo and parents to identify appropriate and effective strategies for supporting each individual child.
The School
The school is graded GOOD by Ofsted and will continue to offer all the children the best platform to succeed. The dedicated SENCo in school ensures all the children are giving the appropriate support in and out of the classroom and you are able to support accordingly. The school generally has good behaviour and the children arrive from supportive backgrounds. The school uses a range of strategies to manage behaviour including positive reinforcement techniques as well as positive praise. The school receives a large proportion of funding for children with special educational needs and Pupil Premium. This means the school are able to allocate funding to support specific children and with this they are expected to evidence good progress.
