SENCo Opportunity: Mainstream Secondary School in Oxford About the Role Our client, a highly regarded mainstream secondary school in Oxford, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their committed team. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in September, offering a competitive salary within the L13-L17 pay scale. As the SENCo, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing the school's SEN provision, ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive the support and guidance they require to thrive academically and personally. Responsibilities Strategically lead and manage the school's SEN department, including overseeing a team of support staff and collaborating with external agencies. Develop and implement comprehensive SEN policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices. Identify and assess the needs of students with SEN, creating and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Coordinate and deliver targeted interventions and support programs to address the diverse learning needs of students. Build strong partnerships with parents/carers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students with SEN. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to undertake this qualification. Proven experience in a SENCo or similar role, demonstrating a deep understanding of SEN legislation and practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
