Overview

Looking to expand your psychological skills with training opportunities? Then this is an exciting time to join our expanding team of qualified and in-training psychological professionals to work with Adults. We are looking for a reflective clinical psychologist who can work with enthusiasm and creativity. You will be supported by a consultant clinical psychologist, and there can be formalised training opportunities for the successful candidate such as structured clinical management. We particularly welcome those interested in supporting the teams to mobilise a complex emotional needs pathway for adults, or those with a flair for working with individuals with complex emotional needs/trauma.


Responsibilities

* Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of specialist care to clients with complex emotional or mental health needs.
* Provide psychological assessment and formulation of clients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources.
* Provide (where appropriate) clinical supervision and training to colleagues within the designated psychology service and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
* Undertake formal research / service evaluations and, where suitably trained, to act as field supervisor for doctorate clinical psychology trainees.
* Be pro-active in continual service improvement.
* Promote, at all times, a positive image of people with mental health difficulties, of the adult and psychology services and the wider Trust.

Qualifications

* Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
* HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
* Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
* Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
* Evidence of continuing professional development


Experience

* Working as an applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
* Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator and leader of a multidisciplinary team
* Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
* Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses
* Research and development
* Active participation in quality and service improvement initiatives


Knowledge and Skills

* Evidence-based practice relevant to the role
* Risk assessment and risk management
* Clinical governance
* Knowledge of legislation and national agenda in relation to older people\'s mental health and dementia
* Audit and research methodology
* Social inclusion agenda
* Use complex methods of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for older people
* Undertake complex multiagency working and liaise with multiple systems
* Identify, provide and promote appropriate interventions / means of support for carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviours
* Communicate highly complex and highly sensitive information effectively, to a wide range of people both within and outside the NHS
* Utilise appropriate clinical governance mechanisms within own work
* Provide effective teaching, training and clinical supervision for the multidisciplinary team
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead practitioner responsibilities
