NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.



Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatrician in Community Paediatrics based in Specialist Children’s Services (SCS) NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, to be based in the Glasgow City area of the Board. Successful candidates will join established multidisciplinary teams delivering neurodisability and neurodevelopmental services in dedicated child centres and in complex support needs schools. Therefore, broad experience in assessment and diagnosis of complex neurodisability, neurodevelopmental assessments including foetal alcohol spectrum disorder is required. Recognition and understanding of broad child protection and vulnerabilities is required. Opportunities for exposure to other areas of sub-specialty interest can be explored with successful candidates. SPA time is included, and we have an active and supportive CPD programme within our service. There are close links with the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, but there is no general paediatric out of hours commitment with these posts. SCS comprises Community Paediatrics and CAMHS, and there are close working relationships between services, with co-location in most child centres.

Candidates must be on the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of eligibility for this.
