Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Carer to provide support for an independent 81-year-old academic lady. The successful candidate will assist with daily activities, ensure safety, and promote wellbeing in a respectful and professional manner. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals with caregiving experience who are committed to delivering high-quality personal care within a home environment.
Duties
* Assisting with personal care routines including bathing, dressing, and grooming
* Supporting mobility and providing assistance with walking or transfers as needed
* Preparing nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements
* Administering medication accurately following prescribed care plans
* Engaging the client in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction
* Managing behaviour and implementing strategies for dementia or Alzheimer's-related challenges
* Maintaining accurate records of care provided and any changes in health status
* Supporting transportation needs, including driving to appointments or errands
* Monitoring health and recognising signs of medical issues requiring escalation
* Ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment
Skills
* Proven experience in senior care, dementia care, or related fields such as nursing home or care home environments
* Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
* First aid certification is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of care plans, case management, and behaviour management techniques
* Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills
* Ability to handle heavy lifting safely when required
* Reliable driving licence for transportation duties
* Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
* Experience in hospice or palliative care is advantageous
* Familiarity with assisted living, home care, and patient-centred support strategies
