An exciting new role for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to assist a very busy customer/client-based service team. You will be responsible for liaising with existing and potential new clients to promote company products both face to face and over the phone.

Hours Monday - Friday, between 9.00am - 5.00pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break).

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

The role is to provide customer service support and assistance to a busy sales team. This will involve processing renewal instructions and mid-term changes to insurance policies, dealing with questions and queries from clients and insurers, keeping business records up to date, checking documents to ensure they are correct and corresponding with clients in a compliant and timely manner. Other tasks will include:

* Gather information from your clients, assessing their insurance needs and risk profile
* Research insurance companies’ policies and negotiate to find the most suitable cover
* Ensure that your clients understand the terms and cover provided
* Manage your client's needs throughout the policy life to include any amendments
* Advise your clients on whether and when they should claim and provide support
* Advise your clients on risk management and how to mitigate risk
* Build and maintain ongoing relations with your clients
* Win new clients
* Collect insurance premiums and process accounts

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

* Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achievespositive engagement and delivery.
* Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
* Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customerinteractions.
* Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
* Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
* Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrate patience and calmness.
* Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
* Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.


Your training plan

* On-the-job training to support job role/development
* Off-the-job training to support qualification requirements (College attendance at Plymouth Training Centre)
* The employer will allocate dedicated training time for off-the-job training as required for the qualification
* Functional Skills support - maths/English - if required

Initial induction/training will take place at: PSP House, Unit 2, Parkway Industrial Estate, Saltash, PL12 6LF.

Interview and role based at:Westinsure Plymouth, Unit 18, 6 Darklake View, Estover, Plymouth, PL6 7FB.


Requirements

GCSE or equivalent in:

* Mathematics (grade A*/9 - C/4)

Other requirements

Part of the qualification will require college attendance to support off-the-job training requirements (currently one full day per month and the college is based at Marsh Mills, Plymouth, so access to your own vehicle would be an advantage.

PSP are independent advisers covering all aspects of financial planning and general insurance. PSP specialize in corporate and individual insurance protection and financial solutions. The role on offer will focus mainly on commercial general insurance products.No prior experience is required, and we are anticipating that suitable candidates are seeking their first role within the Insurance Industry. You will be given appropriate support and supervision to both carry out your job role and complete the apprenticeship. This includes providing you with opportunities to practice new skills in the work environment and delivering off-the-job training when required.
