Job Description
We are recruiting a Despatch Team Leader to help drive and support a team of 12 employees in our fast-paced logistics operation.This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of a busy logistics operation. The Despatch Team Leader is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all outbound activities, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and to the highest quality standards.The main duties will be:
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 12 to meet daily and monthly despatch targets.
* Organise workloads and allocate resources to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
* Monitor order accuracy and packing quality, implementing corrective action where needed.
* Maintain up-to-date training and competency records, ensuring all staff are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
* Oversee stock levels of consumables, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members.
* Act as the point of contact for operational queries, resolving issues quickly to minimise delays.
* Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
* Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a high-volume despatch environment.
* Minimum 10 years' industry experience, with significant time in a leadership capacity.
* FLT licence desirable (training provided).
* IT literate with practical skills in MS Word and Excel.
* Confident communicator who can engage and influence at all levels.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
* Leads by example - reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a professional appearance and approach.
