We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and team‑oriented individual to join the Kinship Support Service as a kinship family worker. The team, established in October 2022, supports children and families living within kinship arrangements, with a particular focus on birth‑parent support.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside social workers, other family workers and welfare rights officers to support kinship carers and children.
* Provide emotional and practical support to birth parents, helping them understand the journey that led to their child living outside care.
* Assist birth parents with family‑time arrangements and empower them to maintain relationships with their children.
* Act as an advocate for birth parents alongside colleagues advocating for kinship carers.
* Maintain confidentiality while recording, report‑writing and using IT systems.
* Work independently and as an effective member of a supportive team.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience working with children and families.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Skills in mediation, supporting family‑time and managing conflict and difficult situations.
* Strong IT and record‑keeping abilities.
* Interest in the kinship world and an understanding of the challenges faced by kinship families.
