As part of a team, the post holder will be responsible for managing the day case waiting lists for a delegated number of consultants at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, in accordance with Government Access Targets and Trusts Access Policy. They will ensure the efficient and effective use of available resources at all times.
The post holder will book elective TCI dates and associated transport for patients attending the Medical Daycase Unit at the Treatment Centre. They will also play a key central role within the service and work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients, and the general public.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
1. Adding/removing patients to the NUH waiting list and coordinating their admission to hospital using hospital IT systems such as Medway PAS.
2. Working to agreed protocols to negotiate patient admissions for day case procedures.
3. Recording and updating all relevant patient information on the Trusts IT systems in line with Trust Access Policy and Procedures.
4. Acting as the first point of contact within the Trust for patient inquiries regarding admission details and waiting list queries via email, phone, or face-to-face.
5. Ensuring adherence to the Trust Waiting List Policy concerning National and Trust Targets for waiting times.
6. Providing non-clinical advice regarding hospital admission to patients and facilitating further advice from Consultants or lead nurses as needed.
7. Liaising with clinical staff to ensure the availability of any required specialist equipment.
8. Following up with patients who have not responded to letters or did not attend appointments, in line with the Trust Waiting List Policy.
9. Working flexibly and providing cross cover for colleagues in the Directorate.
10. Undertaking any other duties reasonably required.
11. Deputising for the Waiting List Co-ordinator when appropriate.
12. Covering the reception desk as needed.
The Medical Daycase Unit is a bespoke facility treating thousands of patients annually with chronic illnesses across various specialties.
