Job Title: Head of IELTS Assessment
Salary: £66,000 - £88,350
Location: Cambridge/Hybrid (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)
Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term Contract (35 hours per week)
We are looking for a Head of Assessment, IELTS to join our IELTS Delivery team, to support the delivery of a valid test and a valid result to every IELTS test taker, on time, every time.
In this key role, you will oversee the day-to-day management and operation of a team of Assessment and Validation colleagues focused on test content production, results determination and the maintenance of test standards to help achieve Cambridge University Press and Assessment\'s (CUP&A) mission. You will also contribute to the broader management of the IELTS Delivery team.
As part of this role, you will collaborate effectively across the IELTS partnership – encompassing Cambridge University Press and Assessment, as well as British Council, IDP Education Australia and IELTS USA. You will play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance and test security while also ensuring the accuracy, comparability, and fairness of test scores. This role is vital to delivering CUP&A\'s ambitions through its contribution to the successful delivery of a world-leading language assessment.

About The Role
This is a leadership and management position with key responsibilities that include:
* Overseeing the production and calibration of IELTS test content so that it meets required standards of quality and accuracy and is produced efficiently and cost effectively
* Ensuring fitness for purpose of marking, results determination and results accuracy
* Ensuring adherence to test security measures related to the production of test content and results determination
* Identifying and managing risks and issues associated with test content production and results determination
* Ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance, logging and managing operational incidents, producing management information on risks and issues
* Leading the IELTS Delivery (Assessment) team of approximately 45 people and overseeing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, succession planning and career progression of team members
About You
To excel in this role, you will bring:
* Extensive knowledge of language assessment theory and practice (preferably to Masters\' level)
* A deep understanding of the IELTS test construct and ecosystem and the operational processes needed to produce test content at scale
* Extensive, practical, knowledge of the security measures needed to protect test and results validity.
* Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective planning, co-ordination, prioritisation and decision-making skills.
* Experience of designing, managing and improving operational processes.
