You will be working with a supportive and collaborative Finance Director and managing a small finance team.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across all transactional finance activities. This role will manage the Accounts Payable/Receivable processes, month-end close, cashflow management, VAT compliance and financial controls. The Financial Controller will also oversee the financial control team and work closely with the Director of Finance to enhance processes, systems, and reporting standards as the business continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Control
Oversee all daily finance operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and banking.
Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
Maintain robust financial controls and ensure adherence to internal policies.
Support and work closely with the FP&A Manager.
Cashflow & Treasury
Monitor daily cash movements, banking facilities and banking systems.
Treasury management and assess funding requirements.
Compliance & Tax
Oversee VAT processes, ensuring submissions are timely and compliant.
Act as the point of contact for external VAT consultants and advisors.
Support year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements.
Team Leadership & Development
Line-manage the financial control team, providing coaching, development, and performance oversight.
Process & Systems Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate finance processes, improving accuracy and efficiency.
Work closely with the Finance Director to maximise the use of the ERP system across transactional finance.
Champion best practice in financial controls, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE considered with strong operational finance experience.
Experience managing finance operations within a fast-paced environment.
Prior supervisory or team-leading experience preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of transactional finance processes (A/R, A/P, VAT, reconciliations).
Proficient in ERP systems
Advanced Excel skills.
