Please note: there is significant travel required across the midlands so a driving license is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Policy & Compliance: Ensure adherence to health & safety legislation by reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
* Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement measures to minimize accidents and risks.
* Audits & Investigations: Perform health & safety audits and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Fire Safety: Review fire risk assessments and promote fire safety awareness among site teams.
* Training & Leadership: Develop and deliver training on health & safety best practices to managers and employees.
* Incident Reporting: Maintain records of incidents and produce reports to identify trends and improve safety.
* Committee Management: Chair health & safety committees and ensure effective communication and documentation.
* Regulatory Guidance: Stay updated with health & safety legislation, advising senior management on changes.
* Stakeholder Support: Provide expert advice on health & safety queries to all staff levels.
* External Liaison: Collaborate with third‑party assessors and authorities to take necessary action on findings.
Qualifications and Skills
* A qualification in occupational health and safety, ideally level 6.
* Experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in a similar environment.
* Strong understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
* IT literate with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong organizational and motivational skills.
* Ability to produce reports and develop policies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strategic thinking and effective influencing abilities.
