Responsibilities
* Provide consultant-level expert leadership for the public health agenda across Lothian as part of a department delivering health improvement, health inequalities, health protection, health services and health intelligence.
* Develop and interpret national, regional and local policies; lead and direct the development of inter-agency health strategies, plans and programmes with partners across public, third and independent sectors to deliver local, national and international public health targets.
* Contribute key public health competencies to a range of health service plans, policies and strategies.
* Provide consultant-level expert leadership for Healthcare Public Health and work with partners to maximise the population benefits of healthcare, translating evidence into service design and planning, with attention to equity of access and preventative interventions.
* Work within the Healthcare Public Health Division and report to the Lead Consultant for Healthcare Public Health.
* Potentially work at any NHS Lothian site; role supports hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office.
Qualifications and Experience
* Consultant-level experience in Healthcare Public Health or equivalent experience leading public health strategies.
* Ability to translate evidence into service design and planning and to collaborate with partners across health and care systems.
* Strong leadership, communication and partnership-working skills to address health inequalities and improve population health.
* Understanding of equity of access and ability to identify effective preventative interventions.
