Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for temporary Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurses to join the nursing team on the Children's Unit for 12 months to cover maternity leaves. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic staff with a passion to work with children and their families.
The Children's Unit consists of 19 inpatient beds including 1 High Dependency bed, 3 Enhanced Care beds, 6 Assessment unit beds, 6 medical/surgical day case beds and 2 Oncology beds.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties
* Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care, working collaboratively with others to meet the needs of patients and families.
* Assist in the management and organisation of the clinical area and participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Children’s Nurse (essential).
* Recent experience of acute children’s nursing (essential).
* Evidence of further study (desirable).
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and prioritise own workload (essential).
* Welsh speaker (desirable).
* Understanding of Clinical Governance and safeguarding policy (desirable).
* Understanding of POVA and Mental Capacity Act (desirable).

* Ability to assess needs of the child and plan, implement and evaluate care efficiently and effectively under the direction of Nurse in Charge (essential).
* Ability to communicate information to team members, parents and relatives, both written and verbal (essential).

* Able to work as part of a team (essential).
