Offer description

Are you looking for a career opportunity in the caring profession and to be a part of our valued NHS? Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has fantastic opportunities for you to learn whilst you earn and develop your professional skills. This is an entry level post designed for those starting their working career in healthcare. It is for applicants aged 16-21 years, or up to 25 years if a care leaver or in prison. We are looking for caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals who are keen to learn and would like to work within a friendly and fast paced environment. You will be expected to apply our Trust values and standards to provide the highest standards of person‑centred care to our patients. This Apprenticeship training will last for 8 months, with final assessment by month 12. Successful completion leads to a Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship, and a permanent Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker post. During the Apprenticeship, you will be employed full time in one clinical area in one of the four hospitals in the Trust and undertake a range of training to support the development of knowledge, employability skills, behaviours, and clinical practice.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country, providing a wide range of general and specialist clinical services. The Trust comprises four hospitals: the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington, and Horton General Hospital in Banbury. Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community.

The successful applicant will be supported to:

* Complete the Care Certificate
* Develop the knowledge, skills, and employability skills and behaviours to achieve the Level 2 Health and Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship
* Achieve Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 in English and Maths where required
* Be employed as an Apprentice and be paid an Apprenticeship wage for up to 12 months
* If they achieve the Care Certificate, pass the probationary employment period, and pass their final assessments of the Apprenticeship, they will then move into a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker post within their clinical area.

Failure to achieve the apprenticeship may result in termination of the post. Apprenticeship posts are available (indicate the specific wards in your division).
