Role Purpose :
As an Assistant Surveyor, you'll play a crucial role in supporting key utilities infrastructure projects. You'll work within existing project teams, contributing to day-to-day activities related to utilities land services, including water and electricity. Your role will involve providing advice, considering the implications of utilities works, and delivering land access and rights for our clients. This position offers the opportunity to travel, meet with affected parties, and collaborate with industry experts on utilities infrastructure projects, including Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) and Development Consent Orders (DCOs).
Key Responsibilities:
* Project Delivery: Assist in project tasks such as land referencing, landowner engagement, obtaining survey access consent (both voluntarily and under statutory power), serving statutory notices, and undertaking photographic records of condition. Support in the assessment and settlement of compensation claims.
* Communication: Liaise with landowners, handle public inquiries, and report to multi-disciplinary client teams. Strengthen stakeholder relationships and improve public trust, resulting in smoother project delivery and reduced conflicts or delays in accessing land.
* Project Hygiene: Support the Project Account Manager with financial requirements, ensuring accurate submission of timesheets and expenses. Help exceed forecasted commercial performance and support the directorateâs and businessâs WIP and debtors KPIs.
* Technical Knowledge: Provide basic guidance to clients on land entry, survey access, land ownership, rights in land, and compensation liabilities. Learn and seek guidance from team members as needed to deliver instructions effectively and efficiently
Key Competencies, Skills & Experience:
* Relationship Building: Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders, both internally and externally. Enhance cross-functional teamwork and decision-making, leading to increased project efficiency and improved team collaboration.
* Market Knowledge: Basic infrastructure market knowledge and awareness of policy and upcoming potential changes. Provide clients with advice to support their projects, improving client satisfaction and fostering repeat business.
* Technical Expertise: Basic understanding of Compulsory Purchase Orders, compensation frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation. Support in finding solutions and efficiencies to deliver major infrastructure projects on time or ahead of schedule.
* Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences. Ensure clear and concise communication with team members, clients, and project teams, leading to successful project outcomes
