Health & Safety Advisor – Water Industry
Role overview:
*
Be predominantly site-based, traveling across our operational sites in the Perth region (and occasional wider travel across Scotland as required).
*
Provide expert H&S advice and guidance to site teams, contractors and suppliers.
*
Conduct health & safety compliance audits, risk assessments, site inspections and monitoring of working practices (including for activities such as working at height, confined spaces, lifting operations, excavation, chemical handling).
*
Lead incident/near-miss investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures.
*
Develop, review and update health & safety policies, procedures and associated documentation in line with legislation, industry best practice and company standards.
*
Deliver/refine training programmes and toolbox talks for staff, contractors and suppliers to raise awareness and improve behaviours.
*
Work collaboratively with operations management to embed a “zero harm” mindset, influence behavioural change, identify emerging risks and drive continuous improvement.
*
Monitor H&S performance (KPIs, trends, audit findings) and report findings to senior management, making recommendations for improvement.
*
Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable working remotely / travelling between sites as required.
What we’re looking for:
*
A relevant H&S qualification (for example NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
*
Proven experience in a site-based H&S advisory role, ideally within utilities / water / heavy operations / infrastructure environments.
*
Knowledge of key H&S topics such as permit-to-work systems, confined spaces, working at height, COSHH, DSEAR, contractor management.
*
The ability to influence at all levels of an organisation, engage with site teams and contractors and drive behavioural change.
*
Strong written and verbal communication skills, good report writing capability and numeracy for KPI/data interpretation.
*
A proactive mindset, working ability to prioritise, use initiative and manage multiple sites/activities.
*
Clean full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel across operational sites
