Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join our team at Benfield

Medical Reception staff are representatives of the practice and therefore it is essential the post-holder will

* Ensure that patients are received in a courteous, reassuring and non-judgemental manner
* Ensure that patients needing urgent attention are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
* Explain practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary help
* Ensure that correct procedures are carried out
* Undertake a wide range of clerical tasks, have excellent keyboard skills and knowledge of word processing and data inputting
* Be required to work on their own initiative and be first point of contact for the building in which they are based
* Provide an administrative and secretarial support function to the Practice
* To be able to work with minimum supervision within the parameters of this job description
* To be part of the multi-disciplinary team and to act as a team member
Main duties of the job

Reception duties
* Opening up and locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
* Offer patients an appointment booking service, by phone and face-to-face and administer the appointment booking system
* Prepare repeat prescriptions in accordance with the practice policies and protocols
* Answer patient enquiries with the support of other practice staff as necessary
* Undertake all tasks associated with the day-to-day running of the computer system including links with patient services
* Advise patients of relevant charges, accept payments and issue receipts.
* Liaise with other receptionists in the organisation of clinics
* You are required to attend practice meetings
* To be involved and take part in training, audits and risk assessments as and when appropriate
* To undertake all other administrative duties necessary to support the smooth running of the Practice and as directed by the Assistant Practice Manager and Practice Manager
About us

The surgery has a population of around 10,000 patients so we are a very busy practice.

We do regularly have staff outings and we try to organise a few outings a year.

We consider ourselves a very friendly practice and welcome a range of medical students over the year.

There are a lot of groups that patients can attend from craft groups to table tennis and also we have an allotment on-site

* To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff
* To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and in accordance with any current quality initiatives
