This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are key components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This role is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
2. Implement occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Workplace exposure monitoring for substances like benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, and welding fumes
* Asbestos management and surveys
* Noise and vibration assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessments
* Potable water management
* Infectious disease control, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Develop and recommend control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training on topics like asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use.
• Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance across all operational sites, including support centers and accommodation areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist with BOHS certification or working towards it, via an accredited degree or BOHS modules.
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Strong drive and passion to promote occupational hygiene, with influencing skills.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reports.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
