Overview
Are you an experienced medical leader looking for your next challenge? Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a visionary Locality Medical Director (Great Yarmouth & Waveney) & Medical Director (Standards) to join our senior leadership team. This pivotal role sits in a triumvirate with the Locality Director of Operations and Locality Director of Nursing and Quality, providing strategic, visible clinical, and professional leadership across the locality to deliver high-quality services focused on safety, effectiveness, and patient experience.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage services at locality level, developing strategic plans aligned with Trust strategy.
* Ensure clinical engagement, governance, safety, and risk management across the locality.
* Represent the Trust in partnerships with commissioners, Integrated Care Partnerships, and external stakeholders.
* Oversee medical appraisals, revalidation, and support the Responsible Officer in maintaining robust governance systems.
* Provide professional leadership to Associate Medical Directors and all grades of doctors within the locality.
* Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of medical staff.
* Promote equality, inclusion, and service user involvement in service development.
* Participate in the management on-call rota and contribute to the Trust-wide strategic vision and values (TALK: Team, Accountable, Learn and Improve, Kind).
Governance and Professional Standards
* As Medical Director (Standards), oversee professional standards for all Trust medical staff.
* Act as Deputy Responsible Officer and provide senior clinical leadership to clinical audit and medicines optimisation programmes.
* Support the Responsible Officer with medical revalidation, annual appraisals, fitness-to-practice investigations, and GMC revalidation recommendations.
* Provide oversight of the mentoring scheme for doctors in NSFT and ensure consistency of job planning for non-training grade doctors.
* The Deputy RO will support the RO in appraisals, revalidation, and relevant MHPS processes.
* Dr Jan Falkowski currently acts as RO for NSFT; this role provides additional support to the RO given the size of the organisation and number of medical colleagues.
Clinical Role
Clinical role (1 PA). Alongside the above roles the successful candidate can take up a clinical PA within their area of specialism to be determined following discussion with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
