The Oxford Internet Institute, a department within the Social Sciences Division of the University of Oxford, is seeking to appoint two Departmental Lecturers with expertise in quantitative social science methods or mixed social science methods. The successful candidate for either position will be expected to engage in advanced study and academic research, to teach and supervise graduate students, and contribute to the teaching, research, and academic administration of the department. They will be responsible for teaching and supervision in the graduate programmes of the Oxford Internet Institute, with a particular focus on quantitative social science methods or mixed social science methods. The two posts are full-time and fixed-term: one for two years and the other for one year, both expected to start in November 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. Both posts will be based in Oxford with the opportunity for some remote working within the UK. Ideal candidates must demonstrate: • That they hold or expect to hold a completed doctorate in a relevant field by the closing date of this vacancy. • A research record in a topic relating to the societal implications of digital technologies. • A professional standing appropriate to the stage of their career. • The ability to deliver excellent teaching and supervision. • A willingness to undertake administration responsibilities on behalf of the Department We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in survey or experimental methods, applied statistics, or computational social science. The position is open to candidates from relevant social science disciplines including political science, sociology, economics and public policy. However, applicants from other disciplines undertaking relevant research will also be welcomed.
