Overview
Lliswerry High School is a thriving, multi-cultural, 11-18 mixed comprehensive school on the eastern side of Newport close to the M4. We have a superb opportunity for a talented, passionate and highly motivated teaching assistant to join our school as part of our successful literacy team, focused on delivering small group literacy intervention to support the skills development of our learners starting from 2 September 2024. We value skills as vital to the development of our learners, both academically and personally, enabling them to play a full part in work and life beyond school. Our literacy journey has grown consistently, with provision shared as an example of good practice across the region. The successful candidate will join an established and enthusiastic team delivering individual and small group intervention programmes to build literacy skills, including work with learners with additional learning needs. The role includes taking an active part in ensuring our literacy interventions meet learners’ needs, supported by middle and senior leaders to achieve our ethos of continual improvement.

The successful candidate will join a team where collaboration is at the core of its culture, with an induction programme to help new staff feel supported and welcomed from day one.
Responsibilities
* Deliver individual and small group literacy intervention programmes to build literacy skills.
* Work with a range of learners, including those with additional learning needs.
* Collaborate with the literacy team to ensure interventions meet learner needs and are aligned with school priorities.
* Participate in professional learning and contribute to a positive, supportive classroom environment.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or an equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience delivering interventions to learners.
* A professional approach to providing support and building positive relationships.
