Job Profile
Our client is seeking a Financial Systems Support Specialist to play a key role in a high-priority project focused on system optimisation and implementation. Working closely with a qualified System Accountant, you will conduct a full review of existing systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the delivery of a new system tailored to business needs. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting knowledge, systems expertise, and a drive to deliver immediate impact through "quick wins" and long-term solutions.
Responsibilities
* Partner with the System Accountant to review and optimise existing systems.
* Identify areas for improvement and deliver immediate "quick win" solutions.
* Support the procurement and implementation of a new financial system, including onboarding and user adoption.
* Lead financial system users by fostering collaboration and resolving issues.
* Develop team skills in system management and accounting practices.
* Promote systems awareness across the finance function.
* Maintain system access controls and ensure security compliance.
* Support interim and year-end account preparation.
* Lead on compliance activities and internal audits.
* Provide technical training and create supporting documentation.
Skills & Experience
* Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
* Strong IT skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Experience in a support role within a busy finance department.
* Proven background in working with computerised accounting systems.
* Familiarity with central government accounts and use of the FreM is highly desirable.
* Experience of working with internal and external auditors.
* Strong understanding of accounting from first principles.
