Wessex Water is a heavily regulated company, working with waste and water supply, and we need someone to audit compliance with the water supply requirements.
Applications from those with expertise in the wastewater area are very welcome.
What you'll do
You will work closely with our Head of Internal Audit and employees across the company, at all levels, including operational teams. This will involve site visits.
In this position, you will
1. plan and perform independent compliance-based audits, recommending and following up actions
2. contribute to the wider role of the department and vompany by undertaking the approved internal audit programme for water supply and water quality
3. report the results of audits to senior management and the Risk and Compliance Group for supply, ensuring that any improvements are completed
4. ensure your audits meet budgets, timescales and quality standards
5. apply professional auditing principles to assess risk, controls and governance, and analyse causes and efficiency
6. develop, assess and agree on viable solutions.
What you'll need
You will need:
7. a bachelor's degree, preferably in a science-related area
8. detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant water supply and quality regulations, industry guidance, and best practice
9. a minimum of 5 years post-degree experience in water supply/environmental permitting/wastewater, and general waste
10. understanding and experience of auditing, compliance, and internal control within the water industry
11. a specialism in drinking water quality, the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations, Water Fittings Regulations, Drinking Water Inspectorate, and World Health Organisation industry guidance and best practice
12. knowledge and understanding of water treatment and distribution processes, water quality and their associated risks
13. analytical and problem-solving skills to analyse data, see trends, identify gaps and non-conformances
14. the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
15. effective written and verbal communication skills to articulate audit findings and matters of non-compliance, including to senior management
16. the ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information
17. excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
18. good PC literacy including Word and Excel.
