Control / Electrical Technician – Location: Dumfries – Permanent Role – Industry: Manufacturing Maintenance
Our client is a leading global producer of PET and PEN polyester films specialising in film products and related services for markets and industries including Battery Materials, Durable Cards, Electrical Insulation and Capacitors, Flexible Electronics, Healthcare, Imaging Media, Labels, Packaging, Photovoltaics and many more. The business has approx. 2000 employees worldwide with manufacturing sites in Asia Pacific, America and Europe. The UK production site is based in Dumfries, Scotland, and the Global Research & Development Operation is based at Wilton on Teesside. We currently have vacancies at our Dumfries Site.
Responsibilities
* Become part of a flexible maintenance team required to maintain production equipment and maximize availability of the production assets through a combination of reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance methods.
* Work alongside day and shift teams, and support and mentor existing control apprentices.
* Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the company policies.
Qualifications & Experience
* The preferred candidates should have a recognised apprenticeship in Control/Electrical Engineering and will preferably have experience carrying out a similar role in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
* General working knowledge of PLC systems in particular Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley would be advantageous.
* Experience of operation and integration of SCADA systems.
* Troubleshoot electrical controls related process issues.
* Knowledge of control instrumentation and systems associated with process control.
* Sound understanding of 3 phase AC distribution. Variable speed drive experience - both AC and DC.
* Understanding of statutory electrical tests and inspections.
* Ability to work and communicate in a team.
* Be adaptable and flexible to support on site outside of normal working hours when required.
* Willingness to learn.

Hours & Compensation
This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday days 7.30am - 3.30pm, with a requirement to work longer shifts as business needs dictate, this may include 12-hour day shifts, night shifts and weekend working.
This role comes with a competitive remuneration package dependent on skills and experience including optional company pension, health, dental and vision cover. Holidays entitlement is 33 days a year with the option to sell within this allocation and in addition, increase this allowance with length of service. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and a valid work permit, if required.
* Annual Salary reviews based on individual performance
* Annual Bonus up to 6% - Dependant on Company Performance
