About the role
The role of a Behavioural Support Worker involves working within a Children’s residential setting with Looked After Children (LAC). These young people may have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues) along with other needs such as EBD, ASD, ADHD, PDA, attachment disorders, and challenging behaviours within a residential environment.
This position requires a committed, enthusiastic, and resilient individual with excellent communication skills, experience in report writing and record keeping, emotional intelligence, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
The Setting
This setting caters to young people aged 3 to 19 years in a residential environment in Mansfield. It supports young people with various Special Educational Needs and has been rated 'excellent' by Ofsted.
Requirements
* Minimum of 3 months experience in a relevant setting (e.g., school, youth centre, sports coaching, residential, respite).
* Experience working with challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
* Enhanced DBS registered with the update service or willingness to apply.
* Ability to work proactively and on initiative.
* Availability to work Monday – Friday.
* Desire to work with young people with special educational needs.
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is preferred but not essential.
* Must have a car and a valid driver’s license.
