Overview
Volunteer Trustee with finance experience to join board of disability charity as treasurer. ECHO Herefordshire seeks a Finance Trustee to join the Board as Treasurer. ECHO is an independent Herefordshire-based charity with around 50 staff and 130 volunteers.
What difference will you make?
By providing strong leadership and working on our long-term strategy you help ensure that our charity remains sustainable. As Treasurer, you will support our Chief Officer and Finance Officer in creating and monitoring our financial strategy to ensure that the charity remains sustainable into the future. ECHO is currently going through a period of change and this is an exciting time to be involved in setting the direction for the charity as we look to the future. We have been accepted onto the Herefordshire Council commissioning framework and are in the process of buying a building to house several existing and new projects. Changes in the funding climate have brought some challenges, but we are looking to invest in the future, expanding our offer for younger participants as well as considering how we continue to meet the ongoing and emerging needs of our older participants. By becoming a Trustee for ECHO you would help ensure all this happens.
What are we looking for?
* Minimum qualifications and appreciation of the basics of accounting and how charities work
* A proven track record of work in a finance role
* A willingness and commitment to learn specifically about the role
* Experience such as: worked in a charity or been a trustee; an accounting qualification and/or experience in a senior accounting role; knowledge of the Charity accounting framework
* Experience with auditors or examiners and understanding their role
* Ability to understand, analyse and explain management accounts and annual accounts
* Commitment to the organisation and its objectives
* Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to duties as a Trustee
* Strategic vision; Independent judgement; Creative thinking
* Willingness to get to know our participants by visiting projects and attending fundraising events
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a finance professional with excellent financial management and analysis skills. You will provide financial oversight and assist the strategic development of a growing organisation. To become a Trustee of ECHO, you do not need to have experience in working with disabled people. The role offers opportunities to learn from fellow Trustees and participate in the various events that ECHO runs. Inclusion is central to our approach, and our Board aims to be accessible and supportive for everyone.
