Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects and is responsible for delivery of a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland.
Having upgraded our Subway stations and introduced a new fleet as part of our Subway Modernisation Project, our next major milestone will be transitioning operations to our new state of the art Operational Control Centre.
About the role
We have a great opportunity to join our Subway Operations Team. The Communications & CCTV Operator will report to the Operational Control Centre (OCC) Supervisor with a primary focus on monitoring passenger behaviours through CCTV images and supporting passengers and operational staff by making announcements. They will control and monitor all CCTV equipment across the Subway estate. They will respond to passenger requests from both trains and stations ensuring that these are dealt with effectively and in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of security procedures and safety and security practices. Experience of working within an Operational Control Centre and liaising with senior staff. You will have an understanding of the legislation relevant to CCTV, data protection and confidentiality. You will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal with experience of communicating directly with passengers using radio and PA systems. You will display a high level of concentration and observation skills. You will have the ability and confidence to independently provide accurate and real-time information. You will be self-motivated and committed to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
You will be educated to standard grade level in English, Maths and Arithmetic or equivalent with Specialist CCTV related SIA qualifications. A Security Industry Authority (SIA) license is desirable.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week working a 5/7 shift pattern. The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements.
You will be based at the Operational Control Centre, Robert Street, Glasgow.
