Mental Health Community Support Worker (Band 4) – Part‑time, 22.5 hours per week.

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Cheltenham Recovery Team. You will provide practical and emotional support to adults with severe mental illnesses, helping them regain stability, independence and an improved quality of life. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team you will work closely with service users, ensuring their needs and aspirations shape every intervention.
Main Duties of the Job
* Care coordination – hold a small caseload of service users, complete assessments, develop person‑centred care plans and review progress.
* Goal‑focused, recovery‑oriented interventions – deliver structured support that builds confidence, coping strategies and personal goals.
* Group work and therapeutic clinics – facilitate and contribute to psychoeducation, community clinics and other therapeutic groups.
* Collaborative working – liaise with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
* Risk assessment & management – participate in risk assessments and implement risk‑management plans.
* Record keeping – maintain accurate, up‑to‑date documentation.
* Professional development – engage in supervision, reflective practice and training opportunities.
* Knowledge sharing – support colleagues, students and new staff, fostering a learning environment.
* Advocacy & empowerment – promote service‑user rights, involvement and independence.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent competency‑based training in health or social care, plus diploma‑level theoretical and practical knowledge, or successful completion of an associate practitioner training or relevant foundation degree. Commitment to obtain within 2 years if not already achieved.
* IT skills.
Experience
* Experience in mental health or social care services at Bands 2, 3 or 4, ideally in a community setting.
* Knowledge of the CPA process, care planning and risk assessment.
* Understanding of a recovery‑based approach, clinical skills training (physical health and wellbeing awareness) and partnership working with the voluntary care sector.

Salary: £27,485 to £30,162 a year, pro rata.
