Support Staff / Teaching Assistant – SEN/SEMH Setting
Job Type: Term-time only (plus 3 additional days)
Are you an enthusiastic and resilient individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Our client, a specialist education provider, is seeking Support Staff / Teaching Assistants to join their trauma-informed team working with children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people in a small, nurturing alternative education setting.
Support teaching staff in delivering high-quality education to children on a 2:1 or 1:1 basis
Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour using trauma-informed strategies
Liaise with schools and external agencies as needed
Report safeguarding or health and safety concerns immediately
Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all policies and procedures
Have at least 1 year of experience working with children or families with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
Are confident managing challenging behaviour and setting clear boundaries
Are committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality
Term-time only role (plus 3 days during school holidays)
Enhanced DBS and two references required prior to placement
This role involves working directly with children who may present with challenging behaviour—confidence in behaviour management is essential
