Project Design and Build Engineer - Hull
Permanent position based with our client in Hull. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary circa £50,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience).
Responsibilities
* Client facing throughout the project.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, evaluating project requirements and design specifications.
* Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals involved in the project.
* Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
* Specify and procure various equipment packages and integrate them into a full steam cycle power generation plant.
* Collaborate with process engineers to develop equipment datasheets for procurement purposes.
* Attend and participate in HAZID and HAZOP meetings.
* Estimate project costs, prepare budgets, and monitor expenses to keep projects within budget.
* Manage contract specialist engineering such as pressure vessel calculations, structural calculations, noise studies, and flow modeling.
* Identify potential risks and challenges and develop strategies to mitigate them.
* Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
* Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary equipment, materials, and services.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical reports, project updates, and change orders in line with client and in‑house procedures.
* Communicate project status, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders through progress reports and meetings.
Key Skills and Experience Required
* Fundamental understanding and practical experience working with steam raising and/or process plant.
* Ability to read and understand Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
* Ability to read and understand Heat and Mass Balances.
* Ability to prepare equipment datasheets and undertake procurement activities for "balance of plant" equipment including pumps, valves, and pressure vessels.
* Practical experience project managing the installation of process plant such as boilers, steam turbines, process piping, water treatment, and heat exchangers.
* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and time‑management skills; both internally and client facing.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Knowledge of Waste Heat Recovery Offshore Oil and Gas is an advantage but not mandatory.
* Knowledge of ASME Code, BS 5500, API 560, NORSOK is advantageous.
* Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical control systems is advantageous.
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
* Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
Desired Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
* Or HNC/ONC or similar, with multiple years of experience in a similar role.
