KS1 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support & Small Group Interventions

Are you a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a KS1 setting?
We are working with a welcoming primary school seeking a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1, including children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about early years and primary education, who enjoys supporting children in small groups and helping them build confidence in their learning.
About the RoleAs a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. The role will involve providing SEN support, leading small-group interventions, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Your Responsibilities
Support pupils across KS1 with their learning and development
Provide targeted SEN support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Lead small-group interventions in phonics, literacy, and numeracy
Help children develop confidence, communication, and social skills
Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
Assist the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
Create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and support staffWhat We’re Looking For
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grades 4–9)
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a primary school
Experience supporting children with SEN is essential
Confidence working with small groups and leading interventions
A patient, positive, and proactive attitude
Strong communication and teamwork skills
