Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Multi-skilled Engineer – Electrical Bias to work with a prestigious Mitie client on a Critical National Infrastructure site. The role covers electrical and mechanical disciplines, providing reactive and proactive maintenance for all operational equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) tasks and planned maintenance in line with scheduled dates.
* Perform reactive repairs and electrical installation work as required.
* Ensure all documentation for tasks is completed correctly and reactive tasks are reported to and recorded on the CAFM system.
* Assist with general building maintenance activities when called upon.
* Adhere to high standards, company policies and procedures, reporting deficiencies that may affect service delivery, health and safety, or the environment.
* Ensure safety and diligent completion of own work and that of supervised personnel.
Qualifications
* Up-to-date City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 qualification or equivalent.
* Knowledge of 17th/18th edition IEE wiring regulations.
* Experience using a range of maintenance equipment.
* IPAF 3A & 3B, basic mechanical knowledge (desirable but not essential).
* Good knowledge of building statutory compliance.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
* Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and communication skills (verbal and written).
* Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Shift Pattern
* 5 days on, 2 off, 6 days on, 3 off shift rota – fulfil requirements for 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
* Normal working hours – day shift 7 am to 5 pm.
* On‑call rota to support the site out of hours; on shift teams are also on call.
Desirable Skills
* BMS knowledge.
* Experience maintaining all relevant mechanical and electrical equipment to clearly defined criteria.
* Physically fit and able to carry tools and components by hand up to 20 kg.
* Experience working in a critical environment or data centre.
* Willingness to provide holiday and sickness cover on short notice and flexibility in working patterns.
* Suitable training may be provided when needed to ensure competency.
