Position: Early Career Teacher (History) Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent Start Date: 01/09/2026 Location: Hertfordshire, London Salary: £34,398 – £36,373 per year Salary will be paid at M1 in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and is suitable for an Early Career Teacher beginning their teaching career. About the Role Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a high-performing secondary academy in Hertfordshire, rated “Good” by Ofsted (most recently in 2024), for an Early Career Teacher to join their vibrant Humanities department from September 2026. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate ECT to begin their teaching career in a supportive and forward-thinking school that values strong subject knowledge and professional development. You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire curiosity about the past while helping students develop critical thinking, analytical skills and historical understanding. Requirements To be eligible for this role, applicants must have: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be currently completing teacher training • A degree in History or a related subject • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for historical enquiry • Excellent communication and classroom management skills • A commitment to supporting student achievement and inclusive learning Applications are welcomed from trainee teachers currently completing their PGCE or teacher training.
